WHAT IS YOUR MUST-HAVE WRITING TOOL & WHY?

A quiet space. My stories live in my head as full-length movies, replaying scenes over and over until they announce they're ready to be written. I need the quiet to sort out the rubble that always spills over.

IF YOU COULD INVENT ANYTHING YOU WANTED, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

A teleportation device. The older I get, the more impatient I am to get somewhere. I just want to be there.

WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE AUTHOR? IF YOU HAD 5 MINUTES WITH THEM, WHAT WOULD YOU SAY?

I have so many. One is Anne Rice. I would like to know if her books are actually personal journals of a world she misses, and can't get back to. Another is Diana Gabaldon. I would ask her to teach me the secret to breaking all the rules in novel writing.

IF YOU COULD TRAVEL ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD, WHERE WOULD YOU GO AND WHAT WOULD YOU DO?

Italy. I enjoy reading about the cities in ancient times. I would love to have a kaleidoscopic experience of all that history. Enjoying a glass or two of Italian wine while in Italy would make the trip complete.

IF YOU WERE TO WALK INTO A ROOM FULL OF PEOPLE WHAT CAN YOU CONFIDENTLY SAY YOU DO BETTER THAN ANYONE ELSE IN THE ROOM?

Nothing. I know a little about a lot of things, but never enough to claim being better.

WHAT IS ONE MOVIE YOU CAN PRACTICALLY QUOTE FROM START TO FINISH?

Imitation of Life 1959 version.

DO YOU HAVE A WRITING PARTNER?

I don't. We have both a cat and a dog, but neither want to be my writing partner. That's pretty sad, isn't it?

IF YOU HAD TO BE SHIPWRECKED ON A DESERTED ISLAND, BUT ALL YOUR HUMAN NEEDS -- SUCH AS FOOD AND WATER -- WERE TAKEN CARE OF, WHAT TWO ITEMS WOULD YOU WANT TO HAVE WITH YOU?

Assuming my partner is not allowed to be shipwrecked with me, it would have to be pens and paper. Sounds trite, but I think I would go nuts if I had no way to record my thoughts.
